Plants are constantly under attack. They face threats ranging from microscopic fungi to small herbivores like caterpillars, up to large herbivores like elephants. But plants are ready, with a whole series of internal and external defenses that make them a less appealing meal — or even a deadly one. I worked with TED-Ed and very talented motion designers to create this animation and explain some of the fascinating ways that plants defend themselves.
Since the English version of the animation has been very popular, gathering over 4 million views on Youtube, it has also been translated into German, Spanish, Japanese, Hindu and Mandarin.
